    Ferguson, Nancy E.
My GGGGrandmother Nancy E. Lott was born about 1826 in Chester County, South Carolina to John & Frances Lott. She married James Bluford Ferguson Sr on August 24, 1841 in Mississippi. They set up residence in the Nothern Division of Carroll County, Mississippi. James Bluford Ferguson Srs occupation is not known, he did own slaves and a reknown pack of bloodhounds. James Sr and Nancy had six boys, John L., Samuel, Asa, Jarrett M., James B. Jr., and Doc H. All were born in Mississippi. Family stories state James Sr and Nancy had a difficult marriage. Nancy considered her husband mean and abusive. Shortly after the birth of Doc (1856), Nancy took three of her children Samuel, Asa & Doc with her to a Christian communty in Leon County, Tx. She left home during the night, instructing her slaves to take the wheels off the wagon to avoid any noise. The slaves carried the wagon to the creek where it was floated downstream far enough to be out of tracking range of her husbands bloodhounds. It has also been told that Jarrett and James Jr were left with her father, John Lott, who raised them in Carroll County, MS. Nothing is known what happened to James Sr after Nancy left him. She was also accompanied to Texas by a neighbor, L.H.Layne, whom she eventually married. They accumulated great wealth in Texas land, cattle and horses. The 1860 Leon County, Tx census showed they owned $4400 of real estate and $5775 of personal estate. A Leon County Deed book entry dated 7 November 1861 lists and names 9 negroes and other property such as a wagon, mules and horses of L.H. & Nancy Layne. In 1870 James Jr at the age of sixteen years old, traveled to Texas to visit his mother. His visit last two years and he returned home to Mississippi on horses and with bridles given him by his mother. Also in 1870 Jarrett is in Carroll County, MS as a farm laborer on his Grandfather John Lotts farm. Samuel and Asa disappear around this time they were old enough to go their own way. Doc is still with his mother in Leon County at this time.

My GGGrandfather John L. Ferguson and his children came to Texas in the early 1890s from Carroll County, MS and settled in Madison County, TX. Madison County is a neighboring county to Leon. Nancy died a few years after John L. arrived in Texas. John L. and Doc both lived in Madison County, TX at the time of her death, while Jarrett and James Jr were in Carroll County, MS. Will Samuel my GGrandfather and his oldest sister, Sefronia died during an influenza epidemic that swept through Madison County in 1918. My Grandfather Quintman and his twin brother Lafayette were 7 years old when their father died. My grandfather use to tell stories how him, his brother could travel 50 miles in any direction and not run into a fence. Sometimes they would be gone for a week at a time. They fished in the Trinity river and shot squirrels for food. Quintman and Lafayette were born on a farm and did not have birth certificates, when they turned 18 years old they went to the Courthouse to get their birth certificates and they desided to changed their names to Mike and Jim. Many of my Ferguson kinfolk today live in Leon, Madison and Walker counties in Texas. I always feel most at home in East Texas. I am very thankful for the Christian Hertiage of my ancestors. I am very blessed to have had in my life praying Grandmothers and Parents that set a Christlike example for me to follow.God Bless

    Ferrell, Frank
My grandfather's name was Benjamin Franklin Ferrell, whose family was originally from Tennessee, I believe. He had a brother named Wesley, a brother named Roy (married to Dorothy; several children, one a daughter named Cindy, who was my first cousin; all from Kaufman), and two sisters, Mary, who moved to Visalia, CA, and Myrt(Myrtle?), who moved to Marysville, CA. Not sure of other siblings. Frank worked for the highway department until his retirement. Grandmother was Annabelle, daughter of Will and Molly Fowler of Kaufman, who moved to Texas from Oklahoma (Indian Territory) with several children, including Inez (married to Howard Burt), and Jim, both of whom lived in Kaufman. Forget who Jim married, but he had a son, James Ross Fowler, who was killed in an accident in the mid-1950's. Several other siblings of Annabelle lived in the Dallas area. Molly came down the Mississippi as a child with her family, but I'm not sure where they originated. Frank and Annabelle had three children: Frank Jr., Patty Ruth, and Monroe (who died shortly after birth). Would love to know more of the family history if anyone has a thread.

    Fickel, Bruno & Dora
Bruno & Dora Fickel were of German descent, and immigrated from Driseden Germany, to Bastrop County Texas. It is thought they may have had Dora their oldest and only daughter and Bruno their oldest son with them. They left Germany because Bruno said "His boys would not die in the Czars Wars." In Bastrop county they had other children, Otto, Frank, Henry, and George Ernest, my grandfather. My Grandfather George Ernest, married Olivea Atlana Kaatz, daughter of Christoph and Anna Kaatz also of Bastrop County Texas.I have pictures of many of the Kaatz family and also many Fickel family pictures taken in Taylor Texas.

    Free, John Page
John Page Free, called Page, was born 17 Apr 1811 in Rutherford County, Tennessee to Andrew and Mary Pennington Free. He died about 1890 in Travis County, Texas. He married first Nancy Strait 6 Dec 1832 in St Clair County, Illinois. He was found in Illinois records from 1834 through 1874 when a family letter recorded, "Uncle Page Free a local preacher of the Christians or Campbellites is going to Texas." He may have married second Jemima Alpin.

A combination of a 1926 letter and my research shows that his daughter Mary Caroline Free married Ambrose L Bell and had a large family in Manor, Travis, Texas. Elvira Free married Daniel H. Reeves who with their daughter settled in Travis County, Texas. Elizabeth Jane Free married William Sproule and died in Illinois.

Page's daughter Margery Free married William Manville and stayed in Illinois but their daughter Anne Manville married Guy Bittle and settled in Bryan, Texas. Augusta Free and Fred Beckmeir left family in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Amos Free married Lucinda J Kerr and settled in Anson, Texas. Emeline (Emma)Free married Isaac Andrew Hill. Last known residence of this family was Wichita, Kansas. John P Free Jr acquired a homestead in Lenore, Jones, Texas. No one knows what became of Preston Free.

    Frier, Walter
Walter is my father. Date of birth is unknown. He married my mother Jeannete Ross sometime in 1958 or 59. I was born in 1962. He served in the Army at Fort MacClellan, Alabama until at least 1960. His mother and some brothers, including John Frier and Ray Frier were also from Texas. I also know of one aunt, Helen who also lived somewhere in Texas. My last date of contact was 1987 with my father. I had some contact with my aunt until 1984. But have heard nothing of any of the Friers from texas. If you know of any of their whereabouts, please contact me.

    Fuller, Jesse
Jessie Fuller was my Grandfather. He was born in 1866, place unknown. but had 5 children, all born in Texas. Married my Grandmother Mary Watkins (or Wadkins) I remember being told that they were married in Texas. My father, Olin Maxwell Fuller was born 1902, Winters TX. All my father's siblings are deceased and I haven't found many records as yet. I was told that my Grandmother's name was Mary Kempe Watkins. That the Kempe was her mother's maiden name. Still searching for that one. Have found a Marrige record in Erath County for a H.J. Fuller and Mary L. Wadkins in 1874 Trying to get a copy of that record. If it is them then the date is wrong. Would really like to track down my ancesters for my fathers side of the tree
